Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers regarding billing, perks, Discord roles, and how your contribution protects the archive.
How does billing work? Can I make a one-time contribution instead of a subscription?
Yes! You have complete freedom in how you support. If you prefer recurring monthly or discounted annual support, you can join via our Patreon.
If you prefer a one-off tip with zero subscriptions, or want a 6-Month Supporter Pass without recurring auto-charges, you can support us directly via Ko-fi.
How do I get my Discord roles and Flarum forum badges?
When joining via Patreon, your Discord role is automatically assigned when your Discord account is linked in your Patreon settings.
For Ko-fi supporters and 6-Month Pass holders, include your Discord username during checkout or send your transaction receipt in the #support-desk channel on our Discord Server ↗. Forum badges sync automatically with linked accounts within 1 hour.
Can I cancel or change my membership tier at any time?
Absolutely. Patreon memberships can be canceled, paused, or changed at any time with a single click from your Patreon account settings. There are zero cancellation fees or lock-ins.
You will retain all perks and badges until the end of your prepaid cycle. Ko-fi tips and 6-Month Passes never renew automatically, so cancellation is never required.
How does the 6-Month Supporter Pass work?
The 6-Month Pass is a one-time purchase available on our Ko-fi Shop ↗. It grants 6 full months of supporter perks (ad-free browsing guarantee, Supporter Wall tablet inscription, Discord role, and forum badge) at an upfront 16% discount.
Because it is a one-time shop product rather than a recurring subscription, you will never be surprised by an automatic renewal. When the 6 months expire, you can renew manually if you wish.
Why are 6-Month and Annual passes exclusive to Ko-fi? When is Patreon Annual coming?
Patreon's platform currently only supports monthly recurring subscriptions for our page. Multi-month digital passes (like our 6-Month Supporter Pass) are one-off digital products exclusive to our Ko-fi Shop ↗.
For Annual Pledges, Patreon requires creator accounts to fulfill a security tenure before enabling upfront annual billing (see Patreon's Official Annual Memberships Guide ↗). We are actively awaiting our verification review so we can offer Patreon Annual as well!
In the meantime, you can claim the full Annual Discount (up to 40% off) or the 6-Month Pass (16% off) directly on our Ko-fi Shop ↗ without recurring card anxiety.
Will guides, calculators, or database features ever be locked behind a paywall?
Never. VaelCodex was founded on the fundamental ethos that game knowledge and mechanical analysis belong to all players. All guides, tools, news feeds, and dev tracker archives are 100% free and will stay that way forever.
Supporter tiers exist solely to fund high-performance hosting, edge caching, and independent research, while offering cosmetic recognition, Discord community roles, and gratitude.
What payment methods are supported?
Both Patreon and Ko-fi support all major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Currency conversion is handled automatically and securely by the payment processors.
