Discover Warden's Watch: The banner of the Order of the Vael still flies over one of Orr's oldest settlements. But for how much longer?
To a warden returning from long weeks in the wilds, few sights are as welcome as the banners of Warden's Watch rising over the horizon. Built in and around the bones of a dormant Forgotten tower, the Watch is where Orrian guilds come to rest, resupply, and trade news, and where the farmers, traders, and laborers of this rural reach of Orr make their living alongside them. It is, in every meaningful sense, home—but ask any warden, and they'll tell you they wish it had never needed to...

Meet the Mavenwrights: The Guild That Defines the Orrian Golden Age
Chief among those rivals are the Mavenwrights: a human-founded guild of builders and industrialists set on capturing the awesome might of the Vael for their own use, firm in their belief that magic will be the engine that uplifts all of humanity into a future beyond imagining. Their rivalry with the Order of the Vael is deadly serious, and it has reached a fever pitch in the months directly preceding the start of Guild Wars 3.

When the Vaelwardens call, will you raise your banner as an ambitious asura, steadfast human, nature-bound kodan, or a yet-to-be-revealed species? Discover the cultures, motivations, and stories that inspire asura, humans, and kodan to join the Vaelwardens during a pivotal era in the history of Orr
Playable Species Spotlight: The Asura of the Orrian Golden Age
While the majority labor to expand their beloved depths throughout the vast subterrane of Tyria, the asura of Orr represent the more adventurous and insatiable of their ilk—an expeditionary lineage who went where their kin dared not go in pursuit of an emerging force that would come to transform their entire civilization: magic.
While longtime Guild Wars 2® players may be well acquainted with their headstrong forebears on the isles of Janthir, the kodan of the Orrian golden age are a unique case in the history of the species—a population called south to the wilds of Orr, prompting a resurgence of belief in an otherwise faithless people. As you set paw onto Orrian soil, you too shall begin your own journey. One that's sure to be retold by the fireside.
Playable Species Spotlight: Humanity under the Six Gods
As a player taking up the role of a human in this period of Tyrian history, you're surrounded by a wholly new and intensely magical world with unexplored horizons in every direction. Your settlements are growing. Your guilds are rising. With every laid road and raised temple, your steady progress seems to reaffirm the notion that you can make a home here. And yet, everywhere you go, the world seems to ask…can you?
Official Design Philosophy: Playable Species in Guild Wars 3
All right, with the setup done, let's begin by confirming one detail: Guild Wars 3 will launch with four different playable species. Two of these species will be ones you've been able to play in previous Guild Wars games: humans and asura. The third is a species you've met before that will be playable for the first time—our awesome bear people, the kodan. The fourth is a new species whose story connects deeply to Orr's past but...

Greetings, Tyrians! I'm Aaron Linde, narrative lead on Guild Wars 3™. The Vaelwardens were an order chartered during the Orrian golden age to safeguard Orr's unique ecosystem and protect the ancient magic of the Vael.
Our Guild Wars Philosophy: Solving Player Problems
When we set out to build Guild Wars 3, we didn't start by asking what a sequel should look like. We started with player problems: solving friction in MMOs and building systems that make adventure effortless and rewarding.
The Setting of Guild Wars 3: Stepping into Ancient Orr
Rather than spreading across multiple regions right away, we've spent time building a version of Orr that's more layered, detailed, and interconnected than anything we've done before. A contiguous space with fewer loading screens.

Verified:
Unreal Engine 5 Adoption for Unannounced Online Fantasy RPG
INTEL CLAIM
ArenaNet's unannounced AAA project has transitioned from the proprietary Guild Wars 2 engine to Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5.
ARCHIVAL ANALYSIS & FINDINGS
Confirmed via verified career vacancies. ArenaNet job postings on Greenhouse for Lead Technical Artist, Senior Combat Designer, Creature AI Designer, and Senior Gameplay Engineer explicitly mandate Unreal Engine 5, Lumen dynamic global illumination, and Nanite geometry virtualization pipelines for an 'unannounced project based on an established online fantasy IP'.
Guild Wars 3 Project Greenlight & Active Development
INTEL CLAIM
NCSoft executive leadership officially confirmed that ArenaNet is developing Guild Wars 3 as their next major franchise MMORPG.
ARCHIVAL ANALYSIS & FINDINGS
During the 27th Annual General Meeting of NCSoft shareholders on March 28, 2024, acting co-CEO Park Byung-moo stated on the official record: 'ArenaNet has a meaningful IP called Guild Wars, and after Guild Wars 2, they are currently working on Guild Wars 3.' This serves as the first official corporate confirmation of a third installment in the franchise.
Dynamic Spatial Server Meshing Architecture Patent
INTEL CLAIM
ArenaNet and NCSoft engineers have patented distributed spatial server sharding technology to unify regional game worlds.
ARCHIVAL ANALYSIS & FINDINGS
Investigating. Public USPTO filings under NCSoft and ArenaNet engineering leadership detail spatial sharding protocols and cloud latency arbitration across regional edge datacenters. While building upon the revolutionary Megaserver foundation developed by ArenaNet for GW2, production deployment specifically in GW3 remains unconfirmed by studio engineers.
Guild Wars 3 is targeting commercial launch no earlier than 2027 following extended pre-production and core engine development.
ARCHIVAL ANALYSIS & FINDINGS
Investigating. Industry reporting from Eurogamer and financial filings demonstrate that the project entered initial resource allocation and greenlight review in early 2024. Next-generation AAA MMORPGs built from scratch on Unreal Engine 5 require 5 to 7 years of full development cycle, making any commercial release prior to 2027 structurally improbable.
ArenaNet Clarification & Continued Live Support for Guild Wars 2
INTEL CLAIM
Guild Wars 2 will enter maintenance mode or shut down servers upon the development and announcement of Guild Wars 3.
ARCHIVAL ANALYSIS & FINDINGS
Debunked. Following the shareholder meeting remarks, ArenaNet Communications Lead Rubi Bayer and studio leadership issued an official statement reiterating that their primary focus remains 100% committed to Guild Wars 2. With multi-year annual expansions (including Janthir Wilds and beyond) and a 20-year precedent of uninterrupted Guild Wars 1 live operation, GW2 servers and content updates remain permanent and active.
